Starch derivatives? Nano cellulose? Let's take a look at the "new papermaking technology" of the Hangzhou Institute of Chemical Industry!
Time: 2020-07-16

Papermaking is one of China's four great inventions and an outstanding invention in the history of human civilization. From ancient times to the present, what changes have taken place in papermaking? What is the relationship between "starch" and "nanocellulose" and papermaking? Yesterday, this scientific and technological achievement popularization event organized by Hangzhou Institute of Chemical Industry of Science and Technology City ("Hangzhou Research Institute of Chemical Industry") may give you the answer.

This press conference was hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, undertaken by the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, supported by the Hangzhou Association for Science and Technology, and co-organized by the Hangzhou Institute of Chemical Technology, Lin'an Association for Science and Technology, and Metro Express. With the theme of "Magic Biomass-based Functional Materials", the press conference will promote scientific innovation of academic resources, and use easy-to-understand language to allow the public to have close contact with the latest achievements.

Wang Guangnian, head of the Science Popularization Department and first-level investigator of Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology, Zhou Mi, vice chairman of Hangzhou Association for Science and Technology, Lin Hua, former deputy director of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, chairman of the Provincial Packaging Federation, and Wu Chunfa, member of the Standing Committee of Lin'an District Committee and head of the United Front Work Department , Sheng Xiaojin, Deputy General Manager of Hangshi Group, etc. attended the event. Yao Xianping, a special-level expert in Zhejiang Province, the dean of Hangzhou Chemical Industry Institute, and a professor-level senior engineer, released the scientific and technological achievements of "Biomass-based functional materials-new progress in the research and development and application of starch derivatives and nanocellulose".

my country's paper industry has bottlenecks such as shortage of wood resources, serious wastewater pollution, and huge energy consumption in papermaking. Starch derivatives are the key technical products to break the constraints. Yao Xianping’s research team broke through the key technology of starch multi-molecule substitution, and studied the molecular structure modified by the multi-functional group of natural starch molecules, which enabled starch derivatives to enter a new development space; developed a new continuous and clean process to achieve It has achieved more than 30 scientific research results including the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award.

In recent years, Yao Xianping has undertaken the national 13th five-year key special project, and has built the first 100kg/d nano-cellulose green preparation pilot line in China, and is in the forefront of high-value applications of nano-cellulose, paper-based functional materials, and biodegradable materials. The subject has achieved a series of innovative results.

Up to now, the research products led by Yao Xianping have been applied to hundreds of millions of tons of paper and paperboard. Some of the products have entered the top ten global large-scale modern paper companies through global bidding, and 3 transformation companies have become industry leaders.

The Hangzhou Institute of Chemical Technology and the National Paper Chemical Engineering Technology Research Center settled in Qingshan Lake Science and Technology City in 2017. The research institute specializes in research and development and achievement transformation in the fields of paper chemicals, biomass-based functional materials, petroleum processing aids, etc. It is also the supporting unit of the National Paper Chemicals Information Station and the chairman unit of the China Paper Chemical Industry Association. It has 4 Provincial-level R&D center, 1 provincial-level key innovation team, 1 provincial-level enterprise research institute, and 2 academician expert workstations.

At the meeting, Yao Xianping released the major achievements in the field of starch derivatives and nanocellulose. He also introduced the biodegradable materials, electromagnetic shielding materials, and air A series of scientific research achievements such as guarantee materials, transfer printing materials, fruit preservation materials, and moisture-retaining flexible toilet paper materials.

At the meeting, Fang Hongxing, Chairman of Lin'an District Association for Science and Technology, Tang Yanjun of Zhejiang Sci-tech University, Li Longjun, Director of Zhejiang Little Prince Food Co., Ltd., etc. asked questions on the spot. Yao Xianping actively answered questions from guests and hoped to cooperate with relevant units to develop industry-university-research cooperation and jointly build Zhejiang Province. The innovation center of fully degradable bio-based and nano-material manufacturing industry is working together to eliminate the harm of white pollution to the world and create a beautiful home.
